Wizkid and Tems makes yet another history with “Essence” after their first performance of it came a platinum plaque for it
“Essence” which was released in October 2020 as one of the songs on Wizkid’s fourth studio album “Made in Lagos” became popular in the US/UK in 2021.
Atfer reaching the gold plaque just few weeks back, the two receives a Gold plaque each for the summer hit.
While receiving the plaque, Wizkid appreciated TemsBaby, his team and everyone involved in the success.
In Wizkid’s words :

This is your time and moment and the world needs to hear this because it is special to me.”

However, Essence becomes Big Wiz’s second certified song after “Come Closer”, which was released in 2017.
Come closer featured Canadian rapper, Drake and was certified platinum and gold in the UK and Australia in April.
Recalling that in 2020, Wizkid became the first African artiste to be certified Gold in the United States, after 500,000 units sales of Come Closer.
